Crusaders, Pirates, and Yankees gather round at Military Through the Ages, Jamestown, VA
Living History is a term used to describe the recreation of life in a historical period in order to educate people. It is distinguishable from simple reenactment because it recreates all aspects of life, not just warfare.
In living history we strive to maintain the highest degree of authenticity possible in clothing, foods and cooking, tools, weapons, vehicles, living conditions, and crafts. Usually we set up a camp site where we display all of these aspects of life and answer questions from interested spectators.
Two major living history events that we participate in are Military Through the Ages in Jamestown, Virginia, and Marching Through Time in Glendale, Maryland.
Maryland Medieval Mercenary Militia is currently portraying life among the Knights Hospitaller, one of the military orders of Jerusalem during the Crusades.
